Wanted, MLM Business Professionals

Are You a Good Candidate?

Job Description:

MLM Business. Work from home. Set your own hours. Take as much time off as you want to run errands, pick up the kids, go to the gym, or anything else you might want to do during the day. You are the boss of your own schedule. Unlimited income potential.

Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it. Why wouldn’t everyone jump at this sort of opportunity?

Well, the truth is, an MLM business is not for everyone. People from really traditional business backgrounds might find MLM too big of a change in environment or culture to be happy doing it.

Those accustomed to the rigid structure of a traditional job, might have a hard time transitioning into the freedom of an MLM business, or any other home based business for that matter.

But...

Maybe by now you are thinking that an MLM business might actually be the perfect field for you. Or maybe you are just considering it for some extra part-time income.

Either way, keep reading to see if you have what it takes to be successful in this challenging, but very rewarding MLM business.

First, do some personal evaluation of your current lifestyle and career.

• Are you happy with your job? Do you already like what you do and are you fulfilled doing it?

• Are you satisfied with your lifestyle? Do you have enough free time to enjoy life and your relationships?

• Do you have a good balance in your life between work, family time, and leisure activities?

• Do you make enough money to support the lifestyle you desire? How about your investments? Do you have a good portfolio of diversified income, and money to put toward investing in your future and retirement?

• Do you have a good solid retirement plan that will continue to give you the income you need to maintain your lifestyle?

• Are you happy with your daily routine, and pace of your life?

• At the end of your current career, will you be satisfied looking back over your achievements and contributions and be fulfilled and proud of all you’ve accomplished?

If you answered “yes” to most or all of these questions, then you are very fortunate to have already found a career path that you should probably stick with. Most of us are not that fortunate though...

If you are like most, and found yourself with more “no” answers, continue on to see if you are a good candidate for an MLM business.

The following are personality traits that we’ve seen in successful Network Marketers. This isn’t to say that if you don’t have these qualities, you won’t be successful.

If you really have determination, passion, and persistence, that will override almost any obstacle to your success.

I like how C.W. Wendte sums it up...

“Success in life is a matter not so much of talent or opportunity as of concentration and perseverance.”

So, with that in mind, this is just a general outline to help you really take a look at yourself and determine if you will be happy, fulfilled and successful in the MLM business.

If you don’t currently possess these traits, will you be willing to grow and develop them? This is definitely a field of self-development.

Are you willing to learn these skills? Are you OK with that? Keep reading and see if these are the kinds of challenges you’d like to take on.

1. Self-Starter: Do you take initiative to start things on your own without someone always telling what to do and when to do it?

2. A Leader: can you motivate others so that they want to follow you? Now, this is most definitely a quality that can be learned and developed.

We’ve seen many people come into this field as an average individual that no one would really want to follow, and emerge as a charismatic leader.

So if you don’t have this quality and think you would never ever have it, you may be surprised! Don’t discount yourself yet.

3. Ability to actively recruit, support and train. Even if the majority of your lead generating and recruiting is online, you will still need to train and support your team.

4. Passion: Please find a product or service that you can really stand behind and be passionate about.

Don’t compromise yourself and your success by choosing something that you can’t be committed to 100%.

There are so many good products, services, and great companies out there to represent, so keep looking until you find one that you can be excited and enthusiastic about.

Robert Kiyosaki’s rule #1 in Rich Dad Poor Dad is: “The rich don’t work for money”. They work because they love what they’re doing.

5. Risk Taker: How comfortable are you taking calculated risks? Can you handle mistakes and losses? Your income and your future are in your hands.

For some, this is exciting and energizing. But for others it’s a miserably frightening prospect. This is true of any home based business, not only an MLM business.

6. Self Motivated: Can you focus, keeping distractions from pulling you away from your work?

You won’t have anyone looking over your shoulder to make sure you stay on track, so do you have enough motivation to keep yourself going?

7. Patience: Success doesn’t happen overnight. Money doesn’t come flowing in overnight. Building an MLM business - or any business for that matter - takes time and Patience.

Wanted - Visionaries

8. Vision: Do you have a strongly defined vision of what you want from your business? Why do you want this business?

What do you hope to accomplish with your business? This is more than just goals.

Refer to our article on Developing your Vision for Success to learn how to develop a strong unshakable vision for your business.

It’s essential to have a crystal clear Vision to keep you going when things get tough.

9. Flexible and Adaptable: The ability to do many different things, learn new skills, take on new tasks.

Be comfortable going with the flow and changing direction if needed. In an MLM business, you will find yourself doing lots of different things like coaching and teaching, selling and marketing, and recruiting.

If your business is also online, then you’ll have another whole set of activities. If you thrive on variety and change, you may enjoy this industry.

10. Teachable: Are you willing to learn? Are you willing to accept coaching from others?

If you are doing your business online, you will need to constantly be learning to keep up with the changes in the world of internet marketing.

11. Work Ethic: Will you work hard and diligently even with no boss telling you to?

12. Out-going and Friendly: You don’t have to be a social butterfly, but it helps to at least be friendly.

And even if you do all of your business online, you’ll still have to reach out to others on the phone.

If you want to do your MLM business the traditional way, you’ll have to be (or get) comfortable approaching others. Let’s face it, people are attracted to happy, friendly, warm people.

13. Honesty and Integrity: This is a BIGGIE. In the past, the MLM business world attracted a lot of people who were dishonest and just wanted to make a quick, easy buck at someone else’s expense.

This tarnished the reputation of MLM business for a long time. It’s taken a lot to clean it up.

If you desire to really help others, treat them fairly, and run your business with honesty, then the industry needs you. And you will have a good chance for success with that attitude.

Grow Into Your Success

So if all or most of these traits describe you, an MLM business may be a perfect fit.

But even if you have just a few of these attributes, it still may be a good fit. If you're willing to grow and think you would enjoy developing into the kind of person who is successful in Network Marketing, you may still want to consider this career path.

A lot of people have found an MLM business to be a rewarding and fulfilling career. Others have been miserable, crashed and burned. Just take an honest look at yourself to make sure you choose your path wisely.

There still may be some questions or concerns in your mind as you decide if this business is for you. Read our article Monsters in the Closet to give you more understanding into the truth of an MLM business.
