5 Keys to Success on Facebook

Facebook Tips...

Now that we’ve covered Social Media in general, and Twitter specifically, let’s get into Face book - another super powerful social media tool.

As you read through this entire page you may begin to think about the similarities and differences between this powerful social media tool and it's cousin - Twitter.

Picture Twitter as a fast moving cocktail party, with a lot of ideas floating around, and talking to a lot of people in short conversations.

Well, Facebook is like inviting someone from the cocktail party home to your house and sitting down to get to know each other better.

Now you're a little more intimate with people and the rules are slightly different. You now need to be more conversational, and really engage people and get to know them.

Read what's going on in their life and comment on it, just like you would with a friend face to face.

Ready?

Let's Get Started

1. Just as with Twitter, your Facebook profile is very important. Make sure that it reflects your marketing niche and any other information about yourself that is marketable or interesting.

Make sure that your profile references keywords related to what you’re marketing. Having a really good profile can help a lot in getting good targeted followers.

2. Add Friends: Make it a steady daily habit to add friends. This is your circle of influence and also a potential source of customers for your business.

Try to add as many friends a day if you can, but according to some sources you probably should not go over 50 or so a day – to avoid getting a warning and possible suspension of your account.

Stay away from any kind of automatic friend program. Do things the right way - the organic way. Put some thought into the groups you join and the friends you make.

Many friends may become customers of your business and many won’t. The one’s who don’t can still be an excellent source of referrals for you.

If you come off as a real, honest, sincere person – then people will be attracted to you and willing to help you.

Your most active referrers may have no direct interest in your business or product, but refer you because they like you. Never underestimate the potential value of these people.

Many off line networking groups are made up of a diversity of people from different businesses that help and refer people to each other. It can work the same way online.

3. Join Facebook Groups: This is your opportunity to connect with people who share like interests with you – and not necessarily interest in your particular business opportunity.

For example…

If you’re into MLM in the Health and Wellness Industry, you may be interested in Holistic Health, Naturopathy, Organic and natural foods, Mom’s who want to give their children healthy food, etc…

You may even be interested in Golf, Rugby, Chess…

Whatever your interests, you’ll find a group where you can share those interests.

This may be a much more fertile ground for you to market your health and wellness business than joining a group of MLM-ers who just pitch their business opportunities to each other all day!

Look at the Baby Boomers. They're the most influential population in our economy, and they’re pretty much universally into health and wellness – regardless of the particular group you find them in.

Make sense?

4. Say interesting things. Never blatantly pitch your business opportunity – unless, of course, you want people to un-friend as fast as they friended you – is friended a word? Probably not : )

When you comment about what you’ve been doing, make sure that you do it strategically.

For example, instead of saying that you just got back from working out, you could comment on how much more stamina and endurance you have since you’ve been taking “X” product.

This will get name recognition of your product out there in your group without it sounding like SPAM or a sales pitch. Of course, always make sure that what you are saying is truthful and accurate.

5. Use cool applications and virtual gifts. Facebook has a ton of applications, fun quizzes etc… check them out. It’s a good way to engage people on a fun, non-threatening level.

So why all the fuss about Social Media? What’s the big deal? According to Nick Yorchak is an SEO expert and Search Engine Marketing Specialist at Fusionbox:

“So what opportunities does Facebook present for targeted online marketing efforts?

Among Internet users ages 18-24, Facebook placed first on the list of favorite sites in Youth Trends most recent survey. Over 70% of females ages 17-25 indicated that Facebook was their favorite site in terms of time spent online.

For males, this figure was still a powerful 56%. These demographics are clearly technology-driven, thanks to their growing up in a culture that considers time online an integral aspect of daily life.

More than half of those surveyed visited Facebook at least once a day, logging an average of 35 minutes on the site”.

If you’re a Baby Boomer, you may be thinking that Facebook is just for the younger generations.

Not true. Boomers are coming onto Facebook in record numbers. And not just to spy on their kids : ) They’re using it for social networking and building business relationships as well.

I think that pretty well sums it up.

Social Media Marketing is here to stay and you'll find it to be a fun and rewarding way to build your online business.

As you read every article on this site, just remember to relax and have fun : )
